On that note, I just noticed that nobody has packaged Cricket, an excellent
Perl-based frontend to RRDtool, so I will. Let me know when your package is
finished so that I can test them together.

Cricket is a high performance, extremely flexible system for monitoring trends
in time-series data. Cricket was expressly developed to help network managers
visualize and understand the traffic on their networks, but it can be used all
kinds of other jobs, as well.

Cricket is also released under the GPL.
